Please Join Us for House of Ruth’s 2nd Annual Health Conference. We are pleased to present a workshop focused on secondary trauma and the effects on those in the helping professions. Laura van Dernoot Lipsky, author of Trauma Stewardship and our keynote speaker, will bring forth techniques and ideas designed to help us help ourselves.

Anyone who works daily with trauma victims can experience fatigue, anxiety, sadness, and a general sense of malaise or even cynicism. You may feel numb. If you experience any of these feelings, then this workshop is for you!

It’s a day of raising awareness individually and collectively, to keep from becoming overwhelmed by developing a quality of mindful presence.

Laura van Dernoot Lipsky, founder and director of the Trauma Stewardship Institute and author of Trauma Stewardship: An Everyday Guide to Caring for Self While Caring for Others, has worked directly with trauma survivors for 25 years.

Laura’s concept of stewardship is based around the idea that a deeper understanding of trauma exposure and the tools for navigating systems will enable people to do their work better. Her keynotes often touch listeners to the core, but she never fails to inspire audiences with laughter and a profound sense of hope. Many participants leave these sessions with a renewed sense of purpose and fresh optimism about the possibilities for transformation.

So whether you’re a domestic violence advocate, sexual assault advocate, police officer, judge, district attorney, fire fighter, teacher, social worker, doctor, nurse, foster parent, or caregiver plan to attend this valuable workshop, and walk out feeling inspired to “keep on keeping on” with the important work that you do!

For more information about Laura, please visit www.traumastewardship.com.

Please forward this invitation to any co-workers, friends, or associates that may want to attend.

Copies of Laura’s book Trauma Stewardship will be available for sale the day of the event.
