Become a Volunteer for House of Ruth!
Dedicated volunteers provide meaningful work to our agency in support of our all of our clients, and we invite you to make a difference by donating your time and talent. Opportunities include: covering our 24-hour hotline, assisting with our Children’s Program, assisting clients with Temporary Restraining Orders, occasional court accompaniment, working in the Shelter Advocate’s office, sorting donations, providing transportation for clients, facilitating community education and prevention presentations, and advocating for domestic violence victims within the greater community at public events.
To become a volunteer or intern with House of Ruth, one must attend our 40-Hour Domestic Violence Advocate Training. The Fall 2023 Training will take place on Fridays and Saturdays, September 8 – September 29, 2023. Friday sessions will be 4 – 8PM and Saturday sessions will be 9AM – 5:30PM. This is an in-person training at our Pomona Outreach office.
For more information and the application, please contact Ashley Spencer, Volunteer Manager at aspencer@houseofruthinc.org
Not sure you have the time to volunteer? Are you part of a youth group or looking for a community service project idea? There are many other ways to help House of Ruth that do not require volunteer training and we welcome your enthusiasm to help us! Here are a few ideas:
- Sponsor a fundraising drive to collect items from our wish list below.
- Hold a bake sale, garage sale or movie night at your home, place of worship, or community center to raise funds for victims of domestic violence;
- Volunteer your professional or design skills on one of our board committees or in the office.
