Healing Starts Here.
Counseling Services Program
Youth & Adult Counseling
We offer various mental health and wellness options to enrolled House of Ruth trauma survivors with a focus on healing from domestic violence and the impact of the violence on the individual and family. We practice from a trauma and culturally conscious lens to understand the dynamics of healing for each individual. Counselors can empower trauma survivors and their children to process emotions and reactions relating to domestic violence and trauma, help to develop healthy coping strategies, and provide support in the healing process.
We offer both in-person and telehealth options. We serve all gender identities and offer all services in English and Spanish.
All counselors are at minimum Associate level licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and 40-hour Domestic Violence Counselor certified. We specialize in domestic violence, trauma, family wellness, and most importantly we truly strive to best understand the needs of the community we serve. Our survivors and families are at the center of our work and mental wellness advocacy.
Shelter-Based Counseling
Our Shelter based clients have access to all the above-listed mental health services and receive adult, youth and family counseling for the duration of their stay upon request.
Once individuals and families have transitioned out of shelter, they may continue with Outreach sessions for up to 14 more sessions. They may choose to begin Outreach counseling right away or access this support in the future
